Simple to follow step by step tutorial of embroidering a design onto flour sack towels and embellishing with a border hem for an added décor feature . This is a great project for any long cotton remnant fabrics you may have in your stash. **Time stated is for the completion of both towels.
Step 1:
Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning.

Step 2:
Print out paper template of both embroidery designs.

Step 3:
Cut (2) 30.5” x 3.5” cotton fabric strips. Fold in each end 1/4” and fold over again. Iron press. Repeat this process for strip sides.

Step 4:
Position bottom of towel hem inside of the side fold. Pin and stitch in place using 1/8" seam allowance from folded edge.

Step 5:
Flip towel over to front side. Pin border and stitch in place by top stitching (1/8” seam allowance) from folded edge. Stitch each end close using 1/8” seam allowance.

Step 6:
Border hem is now complete.

Step 7:
Embroidering of Design Find center of towel by folding in half lengthwise. Fingertip press to crease. Center paper template design 5” up from top border edge to center of design. Mark axis points.

Step 8:
Load embroidery design.

Step 9:
Cut and hoop stabilizer. Spray temporary adhesive spray directly onto stabilizer. Center place towel onto stabilizer matching up marked axis lines to hoop markings. Attach hoop to machine

Step 10:
Confirm center needle placement. Begin embroidering process. Embroidering complete. Remove hoop from machine. Cut/trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends front and back. Carefully remove stabilizer.

Step 11:
Woohoo! Your first camping themed towel is complete. Repeat steps #3 through #10 for 2nd towel. And you are done! Great job!
