Materials
  • Wedge-shaped fiberglass mat
  • Embroidery thread as stated in color sequence
  • Choice of peacock themed fabric for binding
  • White cotton fabric for embroidering
  • Water-soluble stabilizer
  • Sewing thread

  • Designs used in this project

Final Product: What You Will Create

    Step 1:
Read through the instructions thoroughly before beginning and assemble all the materials needed to complete the project. Print out templates of the designs. You may decide instead of just one serving mat, purchase several of the wedge mats and make placemats for a table setting.

    Step 2:
I did notice the mat was not symmetrical so, fold the mat in half and trim so the shape is equal on both sides. Decide on the design placement.

    Step 3:
Cut the piece of white fabric about two inches larger all around than the mat size and place it behind the mat. Take a pin and place it through the center of the crosshairs on the peacock design.

    Step 4:
Fold back the placemat and stick another pin in the exact hold of the first pin on the white fabric.

    Step 5:
Pin the peacock template in place and then repeat the steps to pin the feather template in place. Hoop the peacock with two layers of water-soluble stabilizer.
