Materials
Note: not all frame sizes are the same. So, purchase the frame first and then measure and figure out the amount of fabric needed to complete the project.
Standing Mini-Wallhanging frame (5x7 used for the project)
White Kona cotton for embroidered front
Choice of fabric for back, binding, cross applique, and hanging strips
Embroidery thread as stated in color sequence and to coordinate with chosen fabric
Read through the instructions thoroughly before beginning and assemble all the materials needed to complete the project. Standing frames are available at quilt shops and online.

Step 2:
Measure the frame from the top to the bottom, and from side to side. Because I added text, I measured from the top of the frame to below the bottom bar about ½” above the stand base. Write these measurements down. When creating this wall hanging, keep in mind that two layers of fabric, batting, and binding will be sewn together, so that takes up space. The finished measurements should be about ¼” within the frame area all around.

Step 3:
In software, import the Cross design. Add REJOICE arched above the cross in a color to match the cross border, and HE IS RISEN! In gold below the Cross. Select all the elements of the design and check the size. Adjust the design/text as needed so it will fit within the frame. Save the design and export it for stitching.

Step 8:
Remove the fabric from the hoop. Cut backing and batting to fit behind the embroidered piece and pin all the layers together.

Step 9:
Chose a triple straight stitch design and lengthen the stitch to 4.0mm. From around the cross, stitch rays in the gold thread.

Step 10:
Just free-form stitch the rays—no need to mark them. Now will be time to cut down the embroidery to the size to fit within the frame. Using the measurements taken, minus ¼” all around, measure and mark the lines that will be used to cut along.

Step 11:
Stitch exactly along the drawn line and then trim close to the stitching line.

Step 12:
Cut strips of fabric for the binding and apply it to all the edges, mitering the corners.

Step 13:
Cut strips of fabric and make hangers to attach the wall hanging to the frame. Check the placement with the frame and then hand stitch them in place.
