Final Product: What You Will Create

    Step 1:
Gather your materials and have a read through the instructions before beginning. Have a copy of the color sequence on hand to refer to

    Step 2:
Measure the width of your tote bag to determine the size to cut your striped fabric. My bag measured 36.5cm across so I have cut a stripe of my patterned fabric 38.5cm long x 22cm wide with the stripes direction down the width. Fold your fabric in half widthwise with right sides facing, and stitch the short edges together using a 10mm seam. I have folded back the top 10mm to finish off the top edge when it is sewn to the bag

    Step 3:
This has now formed a case, slip this over the bottom of the tote bag and push the corners of the bag into the casing and align the side seams and pin in place. Then pin along the top edge to the bag all the way around. Stitch this in place, ensuring to stitch close to the top edge.

    Step 4:
For the position of the embroidery, I have positioned mine in the bottom right hand corner just above the striped panel I have stitched on. Measure in 10cm and up 6cm to indicate the centre of the embroidery design. Hoop your stabilizer and bag, ensuring the bulk of the bag is pinned out of the way. If your bag is small you may need to unpick a side seam to make it easier to embroider. Stitch out the design.

    Step 5:
Your book tote bag is now complete!
