These darling heart essentials pouches are so simple to make in 30 minutes or less. They make great little gifts to hold coins, ear buds or a special Valentine’s gift.
The color threads listed in the color charts for these types of projects do not indicate the color thread that you will use. The color stops are just inserted to have your machine stop for you to perform various tasks. Use one or two colors of threads that coordinate with your fabrics.
Step 1:
Cut 2 6” x 6” squares of the outer fabric, lining and knit interfacing. Cut 1 6”x 6” square of the outer fabric, lining and knit interfacing in half creating 2 3” x 6” rectangles of each.
Step 2:
Following the manufacturer’s instructions apply the fusible knit interfacing to the backs of the outer fabrics. You will also need a 7” or longer zipper and a 4” length of ribbon.
Step 3:
Tautly hoop the stabilizer in your 5” x 7” or larger hoop. Run color stop (CS) 1 as an outline of the heart shape and as placement lines for the zipper.
Step 4:

No metal tabs should be within the heart shape outline.

Trim the seam allowance across the opening to ½”; trim the seam allowance around the rest of the heart to ¼”. Clip around the curves in the ¼” seam allowance; clip right into the center dip at the top of the heart and trim off the bottom point of the heart as close as possible without clipping the stitching.
Step 20:

We only need for the two layers of lining fabric to have the ½” wide seam allowance. Peel the two layers of lining back. Trim the outer fabrics and stabilizer down to ¼”.
Step 21:
Turn the heart lining side out through the opening. A point turner, chop stick or other accessories may be used to point out the bottom of the heart and to smooth the curves.
