This pillow is made by stuffing it with poly-fiber fill. You can use a 16” premade pillow form if desired. You may also choose to use an envelope back on the pillow. The bow is attached to the pillow with a safety pin so that it can be removed for easy storage.
Step 1:
Cut 2 20” squares of white Kona Cloth® and interfacing. Following the manufacturer’s instructions iron on the interfacing to the Kona Cloth®.

Step 2:
Cut 1 9” square of Buffalo Check cotton fabric and Heat N Bond Lite. Following the manufacturer’s instructions adhere the Heat N bond Lite® to the Buffalo check.

Step 3:
Lightly finger crease one of the white squares vertically and horizontally to find the center of the fabric and to give you hooping guidelines.

Step 4:
Tautly hoop the fabric aligning your creases with the markings on the hoop. Run the 1st color stop (CS) as a placement line for the applique.

Step 5:
Remove the paper backing from the buffalo check and lightly spray with adhesive. As the jingle bell sits at an angle, when aligning the applique fabric over the placement lines, place the fabric at an angle based upon the openings in the bottom of the bell.

Step 6:
Run CS 2 to tack down the applique fabric.

Step 7:
Remove the hoop from the machine, do not unhoop. Trim as close as possible to the tack down stitches around the bell. It is easiest to trim the opening in the bell by cutting straight down the center of the opening and then trimming both sides of the opening. After trimming press the applique in place with an applique iron.

Step 8:
Return the hoop to the machine and complete the embroidered borders.

Step 9:
Remove the pillow top from the hoop. Roughly trim away the excess stabilizer around the design. Press the pillow top to remove the finger creases.

Step 10:
Clip or pin the pillow front and back right sides together. Stitch around the pillow with a ½” seam allowance leaving a 4” to 5” opening at the bottom. Clip all 4 corners.

Step 11:
Turn the pillow right side out through the opening. Press to remove all wrinkles from the turning and to sharpen the seam lines.

Step 12:
Stuff the pillow with small handfuls of poly-fill until the pillow is stuffed to your preference.

Step 13:
Turn in the seam allowances at the opening and hand stitch shut with a ladder stitch.

Step 14:
Cut a 30” length of black organza 1.5” ribbon and tie into a bow. Trim the ends in a notched shape.

Step 15:
Use a small safety pin through the knot of the bow, and through the embroidered circle on the pillow, to attach the bow.
