Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
Soup cups come in different sizes. Instructions will be given for the soup cup shown. Use the instructions as a guide for the wrap you will make for the soup cup you purchase.

There are many ways to fasten wraps to a cup such as elastic and buttons. To make things very easy, use hook ‘n loop tape!

    Step 1:
Read through the instructions thoroughly before beginning and assemble all the materials needed to complete the project.

    Step 3:
Measure the amount of fabric needed. For this project, an amount to hoop in length and about 12” wide was used.

    Step 4:
Press the fabric well with spray starch. Quarter fold and lightly crease to mark the center of the fabric. Hoop the fabric with the stabilizer, centering it in the hoop.

    Step 7:
Using the measurement from the cup, cut the embroidered fabric to size, centering the design. For the mug done in this project, the fabric was cut ½” below and above the outer most top and bottom stitching; this included ¼” seam allowances.

    Step 8:
Check the fit and trim off any excess length, but leaving ¼” seam allowances at both short edges. Cut a piece of batting and backing fabric larger than the embroidered piece.

    Step 9:

    Step 11:
Using lengths of bias binding, cover the short ends of the wrap first and stitching them in place. Next, cover the long edges with bias binding, wrapping the ends to the back.

    Step 12:
Pin the binding in place and then stitch it down, removing the pins as you sew.
