Description

The book stop or door stop are made of burlap cloth, embroidered with different machine designs and filled with 1.5k sand. We look for functionality in designs without forgetting the aesthetic

Materials
  • 4 pieces of heavy cloth (i.e. burlap, sackcloth, or similar)
  • 2 plastic bag
  • sand
  • Tear away stabilizer

    Final Product: What You Will Create


    Step 1:
    Cut from your fabric the following pieces: Outer strip

    Outer strip
    Handle
    (x2) Bases

    Zig zag or serge thoroughly raw edges to prevent any fraying

    Step 2:
    Load design into your machine. Trace per your machines instructions to confirm design center placement. Begin the embroidering process.


    Step 3:
    Once your embroidering is complete, remove hoop from the machine. Cut and trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends. Remove stabilizer.

    Step 4:
    Place the handle and one of the bases together and sew the edges.
     
    Place the down base and the strim right side together. Stitch all around leaving 0.5 cm free for the back seam. Repeat this step with the upper base.

    Step 5:
    Sew the back seam leaving a small part open to turn round and filling. Put he plastic bag inside the barrell and fill it with sand.

    Step 6:
    Tie the bag edge to keep the sand inside it. Hand sew the back open place.

    Step 7:
    Your book holder barrell is ready!! Personalize these barells with the many designs you have to choose from or words to give them any use you can imagine, or as a special gift for friends with their names or the designs you know they will love.
