Final Product: What You Will Create

Preface:

Turn those fabric scraps into a charming, fully lined egg cozy embroidered with a whimsical design. This project stitches up fairly quickly.

Step 1:

Gather all materials and review instructions before beginning. Print out egg cozy pattern and design template.

Step 2:

From your fabric scraps cut a total of 5 – 6”x6” squares. Two pieces for lining and( (2) for the front for which one will be a contrasting fabric and (1) for the back.

Step 3:

Using your 2 chosen fabrics for the front ..Place right sides together and stitch one side seam using ¼” seam allowance.

Step 4:

Press seam to the “dark” side. Iron fusible interfacing to the back side of front panel per manufacturer’s instructions.

Step 5:

Center egg cozy template. Trace or pin ( as shown in picture) onto front panel and cut out cozy.

Step 6:

Fold your cut front panel in half and mark top center with a straight pin. Place design template on the front panel and center mark.

Step 7:

Cut a piece of tear-away stabilizer a bit larger than your hoop. Hoop stabilizer. Center mark with cross hair and mark axis points. Spray TAS onto stabilizer center front panel using stitched seam and a straight pin to match up with axis points.

Step 8:

Load your design into your machine. Attach hoop. Confirm center placement per your machines instructions. Make any necessary adjustment. Begin the embroidering process.

Step 9:

Embroidering complete. Remove hoop from the machine. Remove embroidered front panel cozy from the hoop. Cut and trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends. Remove tear away stabilizer.

Step 10:

Using your other 3 chosen fabrics ( 2 for lining and 1 for the back ). Iron fusible interfacing to the back ( wrong side of fabric) side. Trace template on all 3 fabrics and cut out.

Step 11:

Cut a 4” piece of ribbon. Fold in half. Fold front cozy in half to find the top center. Machine stitch ribbon to attach.

Step 12:

Place front and back right sides together. Pin in place. Machine stitch all around sides using ¼” seam allowance.

Step 13:

Turn right side out. Press to smooth out.

Step 14:

Using your lining pieces, with right sides together, pin in place. Machine stitch all around sides using ¼” seam allowance. ( Do not turn lining right side out)
