A project the kids can get involved in making and help to create this fun wall hanging as a teacher appreciation gift.

Materials

1 x 15” square of calico

5 thread colors

Tearaway stabilizer

1 x 9” wooden embroidery hoop

8” diameter piece of felt

Hand sewing needle and thread

Final Product: What You Will Create

Step 1:

Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Have a copy of the color sequence on hand for reference.

Step 2:

Hoop the stabilizer and calico, ensuring the calico is centered in the hoop. Attach the hoop to your machine and stitch out the design

Step 3:

Once complete, remove the fabric from the hoop and tearaway the stabilizer. then cut the fabric into a 15” circle. Center it over the wooden hoop and secure it with the top hoop.

Step 4:

This is where the kids can help! Turning the design face down and hand stitch a running stitch all the way around the edge of the calico circle then pull to gather it in on the back. With you 8” felt circle, lay this on top and hand stitch all the way around the felt circle to close up the back of the design.

Step 5:

Your teacher's appreciation gift is now complete!
