Materials
  • 2 x 9” squares of felt (color of your choice)
  • Thread colors for the animals you choose
  • Tearaway stabilizer
  • 8” hoop
  • Embroidery software program

  • Designs used in this project

Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
I have chosen the monkey, frog, owl, lion, fox and duck but you could choose any combination of the pocket toppers for this project. You could even use all the designs for an even bigger memory game!

    Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Have a copy of the color sequences on hand to refer to

    Step 2:
In your embroidery software program, select at least and 8” hoop size and upload 2 of each of the animals. Position them accordingly so they are evenly spaced, I had to increase and decrease the size of some of the designs so they are as similar as possible. Save this as 1 file and upload it to your machine.

    Step 3:
Hoop the tearaway stabilizer and attach the hoop to your machine. Float the felt, ensuring it is centered then use a tackdown stitch to hold it in place. Stitch out the 12 designs. A long stitch out but well worth it!

    Step 4:
Lay your embroidered panel face down and place the other felt square on the back. Now you want to mark the stitch lines. I have left approx 5mm around each design so they are all the same size square which is approx 2” high x 2 ¾” wide. Then stitch along those lines.

    Step 5:
You can now cut between/around those stitch lines leaving approx 3mm around the stitching.

    Step 6:
Enjoy playing the animal memory game!
