Final Product: What You Will Create

Step 1:

Measure the space where you’ll be putting your quote and make sure to note the dimensions of that space. You’ll want to make sure that your quote will fit within that space while still giving a little bit of space all the way around the quote.

Step 2:

Open your embroidery software of choice – I use Floriani. Grab each of your individual letters and drag them into your software. Floriani offers convenient guide lines so that when I was lining my letters up, I was able to make sure they were straight. Since the font used is a script-style font, I made sure that my letters were as close as possible so that the “tails” of each of the letters met up with the letter directly next to it.

Step 3:

Once you’ve gotten all your letters placed and lined up to your liking, you’re ready to stitch! Hoop up your fabric and stabilizer.

Step 4:

After stitching, serge or hem the edges of your patch to keep it from fraying.

Step 5:

Cut a piece of two sided interfacing 1/8" smaller than your patch on each side. Use an iron to fuse the patch to your tie. Hold in place 10 seconds with the steam on. Then you're done! Give to final piece to the special man in your life.
