Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Print out a paper template of the design and color sequence.

Hoop 2 layers of heavy water soluble stabilizer and the duck fabric.

Confirm that your design will fit in the hoop you have selected. Place the hooped fabric on your machine. Stitch out the design following the color sequence.

Remove the completed design from your machine. Remove it from the hoop and carefully remove the water soluble stabilizer, one layer at a time, to prevent damaging the stitching.

Carefully trim the excess fabric from the border, being careful not to cut into satin stitching.

Mark a line ½” above the front zipper pocket of the backpack and mark the center point of the line. Find the vertical center of the patch and mark it with a pin. Align the center points for proper placement.

Following manufacturer’s directions, glue the patch to the backpack. You may wish to either tape the patch edges to the backpack, or place a heavy object on the patch to help it adhere to the backpack.

Allow to dry overnight and remove the tape.
