    Preface:
Beautifully digitized simple designs are used to create a simple wall hanging stitched on linen, backed with batting, wrapped around a canvas board, and trimmed with a ribbon and bow.

    Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Print out a paper template of the design and color sequence. Follow the manufacturers’ direction for working with the glue gun and glue sticks.

    Step 2:
Measure and cut the linen to size; be sure there will be enough fabric to fit the hoop and wrap around the back of the canvas board. Press the fabric pieces well with spray starch or sizing. Quarter fold the fabric to find the center and then hoop the fabric with one piece of stabilizer, centering it.

    Step 3:
Begin with the ornament design. Align the needle to the center mark on the fabric. Stitch the design following the color sequence. After the design has stitched, remove it from the hoop and set it aside until the other two designs are stitched.

    Step 4:
Quarter fold, hoop and stitch the candle design. Remove the finished design from the hoop and set aside.

    Step 5:
Quarter fold, hoop and stitch the sleigh design. Remove the finished design from the hoop; press all pieces. Heat up the glue gun.

    Step 6:
To square up the fabric to wrap around the fabric boards, measure the outer most portions of the design. The boards are 5”x7”, so subtract the length/width of each design to determine how wide each border will be to the edge of the canvas. For instance, the width was 3”, subtracted from 5”, leaves 2”—1” for each border. Measure out from the side the correct amount and mark the fabric on the wrong side, so the pencil lines measure 5” x 7”, centering the design. Measure out from these pencil lines 1” for the fabric to wrap around the back side of the canvas; cut along the second line.

    Step 7:
Center one canvas board, face down within the inner lines on the wrong side of the embroidered linen. Beginning at opposite corners, fold the fabric along the corner as shown and hot glue in place; repeat for the other opposite corners. Next, work with the fabric on the short ends of the linen and wrap them to the back side and glue in place. Repeat for the long edges.

    Step 8:
Arrange the boards as you’d like—here are three options.

    Step 9:
Pull out a length of the organza ribbon and align it on a gridded surface like a rotary cutting board. Place the embroidered designs over the board spacing them about ½” apart.

    Step 10:
Beginning with the top board, place glue on the ribbon and then press the board back into position. Immediately lift up the board and ribbon and slide a silicone mat underneath so the hot glue doesn’t ruin the cutting mat. Let the glue, cool. If you can see through your silicone mat, just place it under the ribbon before adding the glue. Repeat for the remaining two boards.

    Step 11:
Cut the bottom of the ribbon 6” or so beyond the bottom of the last board and then cut out a V-shape to keep the ribbon from fraying. With the remaining ribbon on the bold, create a bow and stitch it to the top of the length of ribbon.
