This adorable gingerbread man softie is available in 4 sizes, one for the 5” x 7”, 6” x 10”, 12” x 7” and 12” x 8” hoops. Soft and cuddly as he is made in fleece, he is sure to please.
Finished size of the gingerbread man softies are 5 ½”, 6 ½”, 7 ½” and 9”. It takes about 50 minutes to make the 7 ½” gingerbread man, the others take a little less or more time based upon stitch count and stuffing time. The opening left to turn the project is stitched up by hand. The gingerbread man shown in the instructions is the one for the 12” x 7” hoop, all of the sizes are completed using the same steps.
Step 1:
Fleece fabric has a lot of stretch across the width of the fabric and less stretch on the lengthwise grain of the fabric. When you cut the required size rectangles of fabric cut them so that the longest measurement is on the lengthwise grain of the fabric and the shorter measurement is cut on the width of the fabric.

Hoop no show stabilizer in the embroidery hoop. Run color stop (CS 1) in a thread to match your fabric as a placement line.
Step 3:
Spray adhesive on the back side of a rectangle of fleece, making sure that the stretch is going across the body and position over the placement line so that ½” of fabric exceeds the placement line on all edges. Run CS 2 in the same matching thread to tack down the fleece.

Step 6:
Cut out the gingerbread man with about a ¼” seam allowance leaving a little extra fabric at the turning opening to make stitching him closed easier.
