Spring time is here and it is time to hit the course. Every obsessed golfer needs a towel so now is the time to create one with your embroidery machine!
It is not hard to create specialty items to embroidery for the golf-obsessed folks in our lives. This project will be a welcomed addition to a golf bag for your favorite golfer. This is a very easy project to do if you are new to machine embroidery and will introduce you to a stabilizers that make embroidery on towels so easy.
Step 1:
Gather the materials and read through the instructions before beginning. Two layers of tearaway stabilizer will be used for stitching the towel and one layer of water soluble to help keep the stitches up off the fabric.

Step 2:
Remove the hook from the grommet. The hook might accidently get caught on something while the machine moves. Removing the hook will eliminate an accident from happening with the machine.

Step 3:
Fold the towel in half lengthwise, with the right side out.

Step 4:
Determine where the center of the design should be aligned on the towel. Use pins or a target sticker to mark the center point.

Step 5:
Hoop the towel with two layers of tearaway stabilizer. Hoop the towel snug but not so tight that the hoop crushes the fibers of the towel. An option is to hoop an adhesive type stabilizer first, remove the protective paper, and then align the towel on top of the stabilizer if you feel the towel fibers may be crushed by the hoop you have for your machine.

Step 6:
Load the “Golf Obsessed” embroidery design on the machine and align the foot to the center point on the towel. Remove the pins or sticker and then place a piece of water soluble stabilizer on top of the towel.

Step 7:
Start the machine and stitch the design. Notice the underlay in the design. The zig-zag underlay helps control the loops in the terrycloth fabric so the cover satin stitch is nice and smooth and prevents any loops of fabric from poking through to the top.

Step 8:
Stitch the design following the color sequence.

Step 9:
After the design has finished stitching, remove the fabric from the hoop and very carefully remove the stabilizer from the back of the fabric, one layer at a time.

Step 10:
To easily remove the water soluble topper, hold a steam iron over the topper and give several shots of steam while moving the iron in a circular motion. The water soluble stabilizer will roll up in a ball and can then be removed.
