Supplies Required:

2 1/2 yards of 44" white fabric

3 yards of 44" fabric for trim and back. This can be the same fabric, or the trim and back can contrast.

2 yards of quilt batting.

Materials Needed

Embroidery Designs from Redwork Baseball Quilt Package

RED1014-RED1105 (There are three sizes. Choose desired size.)

Red Embroidery Thread

Embroidery machine

Sewing Machine

Sewing Thread to match trim

Cutting Mat, Rotary Cutter, Scissors, Iron

Step 1:

The project uses 7” blocks, so cut the length of the main fabric in 7” widths.

Step 2:

Position each of the 7” strips on the cutting mat and cut at 7” again. You will now have 7” blocks.

Step 3:

Place the trim fabric on the cutting mat and cut into 2 1/2” strips.

Step 4:

With right sides together, stitch the strips to the squares. Place five squares across for each row. When the rows are completed (eight rows), stitch the strips between each row as well. Last, use the strips to make a border around the entire quilt.

Step 5:

The finished quilt top looks like this. Press all seams toward the contrasting fabric (red).

Step 6:

Place the backing fabric on the work surface wrong side up. Cover the back with quilt batting. Place the quilt top last, pulling all layers as taut as possible. Pin in the center of each strip in as many places as necessary to secure the batting and backing. The back fabric should be larger than the quilt top. The batting should extend all the way out to the edge of the top.

Step 7:

Working from the center of the quilt to the edges, then to the top and the bottom, embroider the selected redwork baseball designs, one in each square.

Step 8:

When all of the designs have been embroidered, cut away excess batting and backing fabric. Bind the edges of the quilt.

Step 9:

This quilt is sure to please a baseball enthusiast, no matter what his age!
