Quick Heart Candy Box Tags Embroidery Project

Description

Quick to stitch gift tags tucked under a ribbon tied pillow box of heart candies makes a sweet gift.

Materials
  • 2 pieces of light pink fabric to fit a medium sized hoop
  • Tricot knit interfacing to back the fabric
  • 2 pieces tearaway stabilizer
  • 1 piece white card stock 8 ½” x 11”
  • 2 pillow candy boxes (available at candy supply and hobby stores)
  • 2 yards 1 ½” pink satin ribbon
  • Candy hearts
  • Fabric/paper glue
  • Fine tip permanent marker for writing on fabric

    Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
    This project is very simple to do and perfect as a beginning project. The designs are sewn on interfaced fabric, glued to card stock, then trimmed into a heart shape. Candies are put into the pillow boxes, tied with a satin ribbon, and the tag tucked under the bow for a delightfully simple gift.


    Step 1:
    Gather the supplies and read through all the directions before beginning. Print out the templates of the embroidery designs.

    Step 2:
    Press once piece of knit interfacing to the back of each piece of fabric.

    Step 3:
    Hoop one piece of fabric with one piece of tearaway stabilizer.

    Step 4:
    Load design “Barbed Wire Heart” on the machine. Stitch the design following the color sequence.

    Step 5:
    After the design is finished, remove the hoop from the machine, trim the jump threads, and remove the excess stabilizer.

    Step 6:
    Cut out the design leaving a generous amount of fabric around the edges.

    Step 7:
    On the reverse side of the design, place small dots of glue within the stitching area.

    Step 8:
    Place the glue side down on one end of the card stock. Press in place and set aside to dry.

    Step 9:
    Hoop the remaining piece of fabric with one layer of tearaway stabilizer. Load design “Country Love” on the machine. Stitch the design following the color sequence.

    Step 10:
    Once the design has finished stitching, remove the hoop from the machine, trim the jump threads and remove the excess stabilizer. Follow the same steps as above for cutting out the design and gluing it to the card stock.

    Step 11:
    While the glue is trying prepare the pillow boxes. Each end of the box is scored for folding. Fold in each end as shown.

    Step 12:
    Open up one end and fill with the candy hearts. Fold the top down again. Secure each end with tape if needed. Repeat for the other box.

    Step 13:
    Cut the ribbon into two 1-yard pieces. Tie the bow around the box. Repeat for the other pillow box.

    Step 14:
    After the glue has dried, write a name in the middle of each heart using the permanent marker.

    Step 15:
    A sentiment may also be written instead of a name.

    Step 16:
    Cut out the heart leaving about 3/8” of fabric around the outer edge. Tuck the tag under the ribbon.
