Assorted colors of craft felt squares- each square will make 2 gift card holders

Optional -Ribbon or craft yarn to make hangers if desired

Optional -Miscellaneous adhesive dimensional stickers and jingle bells

Optional – an awl if you want to add hangers

Large eye sewing needle if adding hangers

Final Product: What You Will Create

Preface:

These little gift card holders are fun and inexpensive to make. They are perfect just as they are or you can embellish them as you wish. They are all made in the same way so instructions are only given for one. They are a great way to add a personal touch to gift cards.

Step 1:

Hoop a single layer of poly mesh in your 4” x 4” embroidery hoop.

Step 2:

Run the first color stop which is an outline for the gift card holder. This can be run in any color thread.

Step 3:

Fold a felt square in half lengthwise. Cut in half along the fold.

Step 4:

Fold the rectangles in half and cut in half. You now have the felt cut to make two gift card holders.

Step 5:

Spray adhesive on the back of one of the felt squares and place over the outline. Make sure the felt exceeds the outlines by at least ½” on all sides.

Step 6:

Follow the color chart for the design you are running to complete the embroidery through the next to last color stop.

Step 7:

Before running the last color stop slip another felt square under the embroidery hoop.

Lift the top felt square to make sure you have aligned the bottom felt square.

Step 9:

Run the last color stop to complete the gift card holder.

Step 10:

Lay the ¼” mark of your ruler over the inside border stitch of the gift card holder and trim the edges with a rotary cutter.

Step 11:

Trim all sides in a like manner.

Step 12:

To add a hanger: Thread ribbon or craft yarn through a large eye needle and push through the corner of the felt. I took mine through both layers of the felt.

Step 13:

If you have a problem pushing the needle through the felt you can use an awl to pre-make your hole. Bring the ribbon back through a second hole in the gift card holder.

Step 14:

Slip a couple of bells onto the ribbon if desired and tie into a bow.

Step 15:

Many styles are available here to suit many gift giving occasions!

Step 16:

Even though the gift card holder looks stitched on all sides, one end will be open in which you insert the gift card.
