Materials
  • HEAVY WEIGHT COTTON FABRIC OUTER 14” X 6.5”
  • COTTON PRINTED FABRIC FOR LINING 18” X 6.5”
  • EMBROIDERY THREAD
  • TEAR AWAY STABILIZER
  • LARGE WOODEN SPRING CLOTHES PIN (1) 3.3/8”
  • ACRYLIC PAINT ( RED)
  • SMALL PAINT BRUSH
  • TEMPORARY ADHESIVE SPRAY
  • AIR ERASE FABRIC MARKING PEN/OR MARKING DOTS

    Final Product: What You Will Create

    Preface:
    Easy to follow step by step tutorial. These mini treat bags can be constructed in under an hour based on time stitch out of embroidery design  chosen. Design sizes used are as follows: Valentine Wishes 3.49" x 3.90" Love 3.87" x 3.88"


    Step 1:
    Gather all supplies and review instructions before beginning.

    Step 2:
    Print out paper template of embroidery design

    Step 3:
    Paint clothes pin. Set aside and allow to dry.

    Step 4:
    Load embroidery design into machine per your machine’s instructions.
    This design will take approximately 15 minutes @ 800 SPM (stitches per minute)

    Step 5:
    Using your outer fabric fold in half matching top edges. ( fold will be at bottom)
    Tip: if using a fabric that tends to fray serge or zig zag all raw sides. Center paper embroidery design template 1.5” from top edge. Mark axis points.

    Step 6:
    Hoop stabilizer. Mark axis points directly onto stabilizer. Spray temporary adhesive spray. Center place marked outer fabric matching axis points. Fingertip press/smooth down to secure to stabilizer.

    Step 7:
    Attach hoop to machine. Review embroidery design thread color chart. Letters in black and heart in red. Or if you prefer color threads of choice. Confirm center needle placement per your machine’s  instructions. Make any necessary adjustments. Begin embroidering process.

    Step 8:
    Embroidering complete. Remove hoop. Cut and trim all jump stitches and loose thread ends. Front and back. Remove stabilizer.

    Step 9:
    Construction of Bag
    Right side up. Fold in half matching top edges. (optional: pin in place) stitch side seams using ¼” seam allowance.

    Step 10:
    Miter the bag corners by sewing diagonally across. ( see pic) Turn right side out.

    Step 11:
    Repeat steps 9 and 10 for construction of lining. ( Do not turn right side out) Fold down top edge a scant ½”. Iron press.

    Insert lining into outer bag. ( wrong sides together) matching up side seams.


    Step 13:
    Fold over lining at top edge. Iron press. Topstitch in place.

    Step 14:
    And you are done! Fill your Mini Valentine Treat Bags with chocolates or other gifts and use your clothes pin to close the opening. Happy Valentines!
