Final Product: What You Will Create

The Thicker Stickers are key to this project. As the name implies they are thicker than normal packaged stickers. But, they are made from chipboard so they will still bend if not handled carefully. I plan to write the Hobby Lobby SKU Number – SKU1027812 so that the parents of the children receiving these will be able to order more on line if necessary for future years. As the mini quilts will only be used for 25 days of the year, I recommend hanging them with Command Velcro® Picture Hanging Strips. Then they can be displayed on the wall and easily removed when the holiday season is over.

    Step 1:

Gather the materials listed above and tautly hoop the no show stabilizer.

    Step 2:
Run color stop (CS) 1 in white thread as a placement line.

    Step 3:
Spray adhesive on one rectangle of the white fabric and position over the placement line so that the fabric exceeds the placement line by ½” on all sides.

    Step 4:
Follow the color chart leaving the last two color stops unstitched to embroider the design.

    Step 5:
Remove the hoop from the machine, do not unhoop, and place the hoop face down on a flat surface. Spray adhesive on the Battilizer® rectangle and position it over the placement line so that the Battilizer® exceeds the placement lines by ½” on all sides.

    Step 6:
Spray adhesive on the second white fabric rectangle and align over the Battilizer® over the back of the hoop.

    Step 7:
Return the hoop to the machine. Run the next to last color stop to tack the back fabric and batting to the quilt block. Run the last color stop in a color to match your fabric to quilt the block.

    Step 8:
Remove the project from the hoop. Lay the ¼” mark of a see through quilt ruler along the tack down stitches and trim all edges of the block to ¼”.

    Step 9:
Cut two strips 2 ¼” wide from the binding fabric and bind as desired.

    Step 10:
Binding tip: It takes just a little over one strip of binding to get around this wall hanging. In order to prevent the join of the two strips of binding from being too close to the final joining of the binding, position the join of the binding first on your block and then work from both ends of the binding so that your final join is on the opposite side.

Congratulations your 1st ITH Countdown to Christmas mini quilt is complete! Give a full set of the Thickers® 25 days stickers with each one you give as a gift.
